MARYKNOLL MISSION PILGRIMAGE

 IN EL SALVADOR 2011

FOR RELIGIOUS/DEACONS AND WIVES/LAITY

A visit to the shrines of the El Salavador Martyrs

...a time to form new relationships...an opportunity
to engage in cross-cultural solidarity...a learning...
...a commitment...an exchange...
...a spiritual journey...a discovery...

The Maryknoll Mission Pilgrimage/Retreat to El Salvador is open to Religious and Laity.  Participants will visit the sites of some of the martyrs of El Salvador, including the tomb of Bishop Oscar Romero, the Rose Garden where the Jesuits Martyrs are buried, the site of the massacre of the Four Churchwomen, the parish church where Padre Rutillio Grande is buried.

Retreatants will have the opportunity of meeting and engaging in conversation with missioners, as well as local church people living and working in El Salvador, oftentimes in very challenging circumstances.

A highlight of the Pilgrimage/Retreat will be a side-trip to the site of Rio Sumpul massacre and overnight stay in the little town of Arcatao, where survivors of that massacre of over 600 people  are struggling to create alternative economic opportunities for themselves and their children.
